well, before i begin, merry Christmas! my present to you is this wonderful European band. because again, they are very underground, i can find little info on them. (to be honest i don't have much time to look either.) but i can tell you they are an EBM/industrial/dark electro band. They're incredibly harsh, so if you like giving others a headache, they are perfect for your cause, and their sound is also quite energetic, you do an industrial dance to this if you like! anyway enjoy Zombified and fuck you bitch below!
Welcome!
Hello there!
youve happened to stumble upon this blog, which is all about alternative things... ill go through periods of writing about certain genres, or other topics of interest. be careful! i tend to write in sarcasm, ocasionally ill write the common stereotype or conception of something, purely for my own entertainment. but mostly you'll find acurate information. Regularly i check by visiting other places and comparing information!

Scene queens
Im certainly not into the scene culture myslef but considering they classify as an alternative culture i thought i was only fair that they get some mention on here.
Scene kids are like a colourful take on the emo culture. Apparently the culture was originally a "white persons" (sorry i dont mean to be racist) interpretation of the harajuku dolls in Japan. Although scene and emo have the same concepts, they are very contrasting, not only are they more colourful, but often very over confident and enjoy being the centre of attention without being mopey as emo kids are often stereotyped.
Scene kids are also pretty much infamous for their sneakers/skate shoes and their tight colourful jeans, often they get around in Nike's, Macbeth's, sometimes converses (although to me that's more likely amongst emo kids) and whatever scenish shoes they can find. All of their t-shirts have bands, icons (hello kitty, nightmare before Christmas etc;) or other scene associated things on them. Belts are popular amongst scene kiddos, usually studded in some colour combo. And i forgot to mention they like to wear rave bracelets and wrist bands, in bright colours or to a rave kid "candy" "candy" are just pony beads strung onto thin elastic.
As for hair, their hair is the SEX of the culture, girls mostly like to tease their hair into a sideways fashion friendly mow-hawk with their bangs hanging half way across their face. Guys tend to tease up the back and keep their fringe down or have an emo styled hair-cut. They dye their hair either black or white blonde and put a random selection of colours such as pink, blue, green, and red in their hair. To scene kids, hair is a way of expressing their personality, a bubbly confident girl may have Blonde hair with pink in her bangs and orange (neon) streaks around the back. A more shy/down to earth girl may have black hair with the odd bit of blue dip dye around the side of her face. Sometimes to ad an edge to their hair. scene girls in particular use "coon tails" which are pretty much like stripey streaks of hair, the coon tail part usually a dirty blonde or darker brown. As for makeup, girls prefer the winged eyeliner, mascara and an opaque face.
In terms of interests, their lives, like many alternative cultures, pretty much revolve around music. Amongst scene kids, there is quite a broad range of music they listen to, although from what ive seen, each individual tends to become faithful to a certain genre. the most common genres for scene kids are probably hardcore, electronic and indie. I also know that quite a few scensters are drawn to bands such as Attack! Attack, hey Monday, paramore, Escape the fate, Porcelain and the tramps, Amy can flyy, blood on the dance floor etc;
From those bands, i must admit i do like porcelain and the tramps, they are an industrial band that come from Brisbane, Australia, and each member is well recognised and probably idolised by any scene girl.
Scene kids use the Internet as a way of getting their name out there, every scene kid likes to have scene minions that idolise them. Some of the better known scene kids (that I'm aware of) include Alex Evans, brookelle bones, kiki kannibal and emilie villanueva. As part of the Internet identity, alot of scene kids tend to alter their names, Usually so its catchy and memorable, their last names are often made to rhyme with their last name, or the use of xXx is also common.
All in all, scene culture is another way for one to express themselves by a creative means. Its certainly not my forte but it makes plenty of people out there happy, and its helping to broaden the minds of our modern unaccepting society.

Band Exposure, Strict regime
Strict regime is an EBM/industrial/dark wave/experimental band and like much of my music, very underground. They come from London (UK) and have started working on their first album. Like many bands, each individual member has at one point toured in other bands, and written their own music. They are pretty much in their early days but from listening to their few released songs, I'm quite positive they have a shit load more of good stuff coming!
i recommend you try and find their song "gridlock" as its one of my favourites, i would have posted it below in preference to their song "strict regime" but you tube is being highly frustrating right now. Anyway, i hope you enjoy!

Sleaze bands, Glamour punks
Long time no see! since i haven't written anything about hair metal lately Ive decided to clean my act up a tad. Anyway, today I'm going to share glamor punks, and 80's punk band. Sadly there is very little information about them anywhere, due to their underground status. but nether the less, they are still worthy of mention!
they have one outstanding album and a small but very loyal fan base. and if it makes you more interested, i recall Andy Biersack once saying if he had a choice of any band other than black veil brides he would want to play for these guys! Anyway, here's a quick look at them below:

The Industrial Movement
The industrial movement started in the 70's but really started to grow in the 90's along with many other emerging genres of music. Initially, the sound was achieved with the transgressive experimentation of industrial machinery and noises, such as scrapping, scratching, loud clanging and heavy distortion. When the movement was fresh and new, the lyrics were often to argue a point or share an explicit opinion about social change.Over time electronic and synthetic material have become more acceptable. The term "industrial" was used by a record label (industrial records) Many bands such as throbbing gristle and Industrial pioneers soon adopted "industrial" as part of their sound. Like i mentioned earlier, the movement really got going in to 90's, with bands that KDFDM and Front line assembly.
From industrial several sub-categories have since evolved, many industrial bands also have elements of EBM (electronic body music), Darkwave, Rock and Metal. While EMB is usually very popular amongst underground listeners many people don't particularly like combining industrial noise with electronics as this detracts from the harsh noise intended. (its also often seen as pussy, weak or fake.)
If your looking for some good industrial bands, i can recommend the following (from a broad range of the genre) (and i also casually mentioned a few earlier if your willing to go back and find them!)
-nine inch nails
-type O negative
-miss construction
-SEXYDEATH

Indie
luckily, my friend is going to tell you about indie stuff, so here goes:
"Independent music is not just a genre, for many people it is a lifestyle. You may walk into a second-hand clothing store and realise that this is just not your scene, but for a small minority of people it is. They have houses with floral wallpaper, various kinds of stockings, a large variety of herbal tea, and an old record player. Not really. Some people like those things. Personally, I really do, but I'm not sure I would dedicate my entire home to something like that.
There are many bands fitted into the indie genre, but I don't like putting bands into genres and groups. Its like putting your friends into groups of best, close & good. So I just listen to a whole heap of bands, many that people have not even heard of, as my friends call me a hipster.
I really enjoy listening to bands such as Washington, The Wombats, Art Vs. Science, Foster The People, The Jezabels, Boy And Bear, Gypsy & The Cat, Jinja Safari, Josh Pyke, Vampire Weekend, Regina Spektor, Florence & The Machine, Marina & The Diamonds, LIGHTS, Dan Sultan, Cloud Control, Sparkadia, The Waifs, John Butler Trio, Bluejuice, Philadelphia Grand Jury, Missy Higgins, etc;"
well, you got that part from her! unfortunately she didn't have time to get into the visual aspect of it but i think i can give you an acceptable description from my (alternative) point of view:
Indie culture is often quit distinct for its combination of hippie and "old school dress code" fashions. Rather than the tight jeans and vibrant colours, it is quite common to see an "indie kid" (particularly girls) in loose clothes with vintage floral patterns, old knit cardigans, naturally coloured jeans, anti-short skirts, sandals or boots (no skate shoes.... EVER!!!!! converses are quite acceptable though)
Over all, they are quite happy folk, and while I would never consider immersing myself in the culture, I certainly wouldn't dis anyone who does, like anything (culture/music/fashion) it requires a certain amount of creativity to be a "good" indie, especially without becoming cliche!
Another thing that comes to my attention (and quite random to) is the indie bop, as their music is often quite folk orientated (well, right now most independent music is) its become a growing trend to awkwardly bop (almost like a squat motion where your feet are together) in tune with the music!
Overall i hope this gives you a good insight to indie culture/music/fashion, perhaps (if i can convince her) she submit another article regarding her fabulous world of Indie!

Aesthesys
Next band to share with you! Aesthesys are a neoclassical/ambient/post-rock project (band) from Germany. recently Ive been listening to allot of their music but sadly they are very underground and very little is known about them. But i do know that their name comes from the term Aesthe, which has some sort of meaning of all knowledge in simplified language. Here is their song "i am free, that is why i am lost" posted by a fan back in 2010 (they haven't written any music of late so i dont feel the need to post their newest single etc;) Anyway, i hope you enjoy it!

Mind.In.A.Box, Band exposure
I only just realized, that it has been to long since my last band exposure! The first band that cane to mind when coming to this realization was Mind.In.A.Box. Sadly, people know very little about this band, and so there is very little i can tell you, however i know enough to give you some general knowledge.
The band originates from Vienna, Austria. MIAB is an industrial/synthpop/ebm/electro band, the sound of their first few alums is mostly a combination of story telling conversations, along with introductory monologues all based on science, fantasy etc. Earlier this year, they just finished their fifth CD. you can view their homepage (which has a pretty cool layout) here at http://www.mindinabox.com/ the Video below is a fan-made, but Ive gotta say, some of the graphics are pretty cool!

Sleaze Bands part 3, Heart Throb Mob
I haven't added any sleaze lately, the next on a really long list is Heart throb mob. a relatively colourful band, with vibrant reds and at one stage, blues in amongst their hair. They lasted for a short five years before breaking up in 1997 and went through a total of five members. During their short time together they made two albums which go by the name of hit list and eat your heart out. Although their music career was short lived, i they have a really light hearted feel, something you can apply/dance to on any occasion! Throughout their music you'll hear good rhythm, nice guitar shredding and pleasant vocals.

Your rebel love song, Black Veil Brides
Black veil brides are planning to release a new video soon!! I am pleasantly excited, as im a sucker for their music, and i should have posted this earlier but here is the trailer below
The Clockwork Dolls
The clockwork dolls, are a steam punk/musical/female vocalist trio that began in 2007. They share a combination of skills, including acting, writing and being able to fuse ages to create their imaginative music. Their music is often a storytelling fantasy consisting of airships and marvelous steam contraptions which are given audio interpretations throughout their songs.
their official logo is of a bronzed rose compass from the steam age.So far they have two albums, one self titled and the other called Dramatis personae. Hopefully they will plan another album sometime for the near future.

The Hellfreaks
Today i feel the need to share a very underground band, the Hellfreaks. They are a Hungarian rockabilly/psychobilly/punk band featuring female vocals. They really stand aside from other bands, in fact Ive never seen anything so beautifully non-mainstream. Their lead singer Shakey Sue, completely shatters the stereotype which is structured around female vocals. The band gives a perfect demonstration of how any rock/goth/psychobilly bands should feel and sound, with a quick paced beat and such humorous, quirky and morbid expressions. So far they only have the one album, "hell sweet hell" although I'm hoping they get a move on and keep writing! Like many aesthetic bands (not all) they have all identified with descriptive names, their lead singer goes by the title of Shakey sue, their double bass player known as bloody holly, Yoda surfer on guitar (a name directly from geek heaven!!!, i don't know about you but i think geeks are so cute) and W illy cruel blasting some rhythm on drums. Anyway, for your enjoyment here is their song "boogie man"

sleaze bands part 1, crashdiet
I'm very sorry for leaving such time between posts, but in mention of that i decided i would post a most worthy band of mention, and some of their music.
crashdiet are a Swedish sleaze rock that formed in 2000. their first full length album was released around 2005, (rest in sleaze) and is the only record featuring their original vocalist, who later committed suicide. After the trauma, and loss of their lead singer, they broke up temporarily, although at the time it was intended to be a permanent decision. Once they got back together, they wrote a new album with their new singer called "the unattractive revolution". their most recent album has yet another lead singer, and now none of the original members remain, id say which members i prefer, but I'm sure you'd like to decide that for yourself!
The video above is from their second album some time after their breakup, and is on their album called the unattractive revolution, the video below is from the album generation wild, and is called generation wild, with their most recent member line-up.

The sleaze scene, in rock and metal
It is well know that metal is a heavier progression of rock, and one of the first progressions, which existed before many of the sub-divided musical genres and fashions we have today. But during the creation and discovery of many musical genres and bands, many people have completely missed the category known as sleaze. short for sleaze rock or sleaze metal, the main thing that separates a sleaze bands from a normal rock, punk or metal band is the way any particular band chooses to define themselves, by fashion.
some of the common characteristics include teased up hairstyles, generally "dark" fashion attire, although they can be quite colourful (see peppermint creeps), leather, military/leather/black shoes, metal (studs, chains etc), stripes! and generally tight clothing.
the other component of the sleaze aesthetic is their contrasting make-up. generally every member of the band has a reasonably pale face, with the exception of black eyes/lips etc;
Mostly, sleaze bands are underground, but you don't really have to look that far, KISS is approved as a sleaze rock bands by many sleaze fans, along with other bands such as the motley crue.
If you've never listened to sleaze, don't know where to start or your just looking for new music, here are some of my favourite sleaze bands:
Crashdiet
Wednesday 13
black rain
peppermint creeps
Hopefully you get the idea of what sleaze bands look like! but don't forget like any fashion, these bands do bring their own components onto it, as it is a way to be unique. sometime in the near future i will try and get a post done with background information on some of these bands, and hopefully a post about the aesthetic in more detail.
