Band Exposure- Miss Construction

well, before i begin, merry Christmas! my present to you is this wonderful European band. because again, they are very underground, i can find little info on them. (to be honest i don't have much time to look either.) but i can tell you they are an EBM/industrial/dark electro band. They're incredibly harsh, so if you like giving others a headache, they are perfect for your cause, and their sound is also quite energetic, you do an industrial dance to this if you like! anyway enjoy Zombified  and fuck you bitch below!

Band Exposure, Strict regime

Strict regime is an EBM/industrial/dark wave/experimental band and like much of my music, very underground. They come from London (UK) and have started working on their first album. Like many bands, each individual member has at one point toured in other bands, and written their own music. They are pretty much in their early days but from listening to their few released songs, I'm quite positive they have a shit load more of good stuff coming!
i recommend you try and find their song "gridlock" as its one of my favourites, i would have posted it below in preference to their song "strict regime" but you tube is being highly frustrating right now. Anyway, i hope you enjoy!

Sleaze bands, Glamour punks

Long time no see! since i haven't written anything about hair metal lately Ive decided to clean my act up a tad. Anyway, today I'm going to share glamor punks, and 80's punk band. Sadly there is very little information about them anywhere, due to their underground status. but nether the less, they are still worthy of mention!
they have one outstanding album and a small but very loyal fan base.  and if it makes you more interested,  i recall Andy Biersack once saying if he had a choice of any band other than black veil brides he would want to play for these guys! Anyway, here's a quick look at them below:

The Industrial Movement

The industrial movement started in the 70's but really started to grow in the 90's along with many other emerging genres of music. Initially, the sound was achieved with the transgressive experimentation of industrial machinery and noises, such as scrapping, scratching, loud clanging and heavy distortion. When the movement was fresh and new, the lyrics were often to argue a point or share an explicit opinion about social change.Over time electronic and synthetic material have become more acceptable.The term "industrial" was used by a record label (industrial records) Many bands such as throbbing gristle and Industrial pioneers soon adopted "industrial" as part of their sound. Like i mentioned earlier, the movement really got going in to 90's, with bands that KDFDM and Front line assembly. 

From industrial several sub-categories have since evolved, many industrial bands also have elements of EBM (electronic body music), Darkwave, Rock and Metal. While EMB is usually very popular amongst underground listeners many people don't particularly like combining industrial noise with electronics as this detracts from the harsh noise intended. (its also often seen as pussy, weak or fake.)

Indie

luckily, my friend is going to tell you about indie stuff, so here goes:

"Independent music is not just a genre, for many people it is a lifestyle. You may walk into a second-hand clothing store and realise that this is just not your scene, but for a small minority of people it is. They have houses with floral wallpaper, various kinds of stockings, a large variety of herbal tea, and an old record player. Not really. Some people like those things. Personally, I really do, but I'm not sure I would dedicate my entire home to something like that.

There are many bands fitted into the indie genre, but I don't like putting bands into genres and groups. Its like putting your friends into groups of best, close & good. So I just listen to a whole heap of bands, many that people have not even heard of, as my friends call me a hipster.
I really enjoy listening to bands such as Washington, The Wombats, Art Vs. Science, Foster The People, The Jezabels, Boy And Bear, Gypsy & The Cat, Jinja Safari, Josh Pyke, Vampire Weekend, Regina Spektor, Florence & The Machine, Marina & The Diamonds, LIGHTS, Dan Sultan, Cloud Control, Sparkadia, The Waifs, John Butler Trio, Bluejuice, Philadelphia Grand Jury, Missy Higgins, etc;"

well, you got that part from her! unfortunately she didn't have time to get into the visual aspect of it but i think i can give you an acceptable description from my (alternative) point of view:

Indie culture is often quit distinct for its combination of hippie and "old school dress code" fashions. Rather than the tight jeans and vibrant colours, it is quite common to see an "indie kid" (particularly girls) in loose clothes with vintage floral patterns, old knit cardigans, naturally coloured jeans, anti-short skirts, sandals or boots (no skate shoes.... EVER!!!!! converses are quite acceptable though)
Over all, they are quite happy folk, and while I would never consider immersing myself in the culture, I certainly wouldn't dis anyone who does, like anything (culture/music/fashion) it requires a certain amount of creativity to be a "good" indie, especially without becoming cliche!
Another thing that comes to my attention (and quite random to) is the indie bop, as their music is often quite folk orientated (well, right now most independent music is) its become a growing trend to awkwardly bop (almost like a squat motion where your feet are together) in tune with the music!

Overall i hope this gives you a good insight to indie culture/music/fashion, perhaps (if i can convince her) she submit another article regarding her fabulous world of Indie!

The Silver Shrine

The silver Shrine is another psychobily/rockabilly/gothabilly band, that is probably more publicised that the hellfreaks although i think i like the hellfreaks a tad more. nether the less, the silver shrine are pretty good!

Band Exposure: Children 18:3

i cant believe that i havent already show you this band! they are a punk/ska/garage rock band. their debut Ep was released in 2004 (im quite sure) and have released a total of 2 EP's and one full length album as far as im aware! anyway, you can have a peek below! (this song is called "the jack O lantern of dreams)

The sleaze scene, in rock and metal

It is well know that metal is a heavier progression of rock, and one of the first progressions, which existed before many of the sub-divided musical genres and fashions we have today. But during the creation and discovery of many musical genres and bands, many people have completely missed the category known as sleaze. short for sleaze rock or sleaze metal, the main thing that separates a sleaze bands from a normal rock, punk or metal band is the way any particular band chooses to define themselves, by fashion.
some of the common characteristics include teased up hairstyles, generally "dark" fashion attire, although they can be quite colourful (see peppermint creeps), leather, military/leather/black shoes, metal (studs, chains etc), stripes! and generally tight clothing.
the other component of the sleaze aesthetic is their contrasting make-up. generally every member of the band has a reasonably pale face, with the exception of black eyes/lips etc;
Mostly, sleaze bands are underground, but you don't really have to look that far, KISS is approved as a sleaze rock bands by many sleaze fans, along with other bands such as the motley crue.

Hopefully you get the idea of what sleaze bands look like! but don't forget like any fashion, these bands do bring their own components onto it, as it is a way to be unique. sometime in the near future i will try and get a post done with background information on some of these bands, and hopefully a post about the aesthetic in more detail.

Musical crash course part 1

okay, so Ive been busy again, and haven't been able to do much, anyway here is a small unedited section of my musical crash course writing, if you notice Ive written any contradictions, just ignore them. i often contradict myself when writing, then later i have to reread them and fix it all up, these arnt the most interesting genres but i think you ll get the point of what i mean by crash course:

Female vocalists, generally it could apply to any girl singer but when things are tagged with female vocalist its rock or heavier since its establishing its not trad. Male vocals, since otherwise girls often sing.

Indie: now this term isn’t even a genre really, I’m telling you because it comes up a lot, people think indie is just like hippies playing acoustics….. There’s a lot more to it than that indie is short for independent, meaning the artist who is indie plans their own gigs, is not signed to any record label no company is their “producer” or anything like that, any artist could be indie if they want, the stereotype of hippies on guitars is actually FOLK INDIE, a different story. In short it means any band that is indie is guaranteed to be poor. The Maine, skipping girl vinegar

Acoustic: some bands are purely acoustic and others just play a sad little song on their album that’s acoustic. If common sense didn’t already inform you what acoustic is, it’s just an acoustic guitar with vocals, maybe piano or soft drumming and whatever. November blessing

Alternative, this applies to about any band who is so original that no one knows what label them. Although you’ll notice a lot of bands are alternative rock of alt/punk and stuff, this means they are rock and unique or whatever. But it depends on the band.

Rock, Rock was basically the first genre where kids (in that time) were allowed to rebel, instead of all the silly junk like classical and folk/barn yard dances. rock allowed people to be themselves, usually has guitars bass drum kit and vocals, no screaming. And I forgot to mention, rock has an extremely steady beat, a real beat, not the techno doof! Doof! Doof!, and traditionally male vocals. Such as AC DC or blink 182
